Al-Shabaab claims killing three intelligence agents in Somali capital

Three people were shot and killed in Mogadishu’s Waberi district on Wednesday night.

According eyewitnesses, gunmen killed the three men and escaped the scene.

Somali police forces arrived at the crime scene later to carry out investigations.

The militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack saying that the three people who were killed were officers from the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

Al-Shabaab frequently targets Somali government officials and those working for international organisations.

The group has recently lost strategic areas in the Lower and Middle Shabelle regions following operations by the Somali National Army and AMISOM troops.
