Somali leader receives credentials of new Italian, Swedish envoys


Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo today received letters of accreditation from the new ambassadors of Sweden and Italy to Somalia.

Swedish Ambassador to Somalia Staffan Tillander shared with the president congratulatory message from the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf on his efforts to boost relations between the two countries, thanking the government and the Somali people for their warm welcome.

Meanwhile, the new Italian ambassador, Alberto Vecchi, who presented his credentials to the president, said he was happy to be part of the diplomatic community in the country.

Vecchi conveyed the greetings of Italian president, Sergio Mattarella, to the president, saying that his country was a close ally of the Somali people and has a longstanding relationship with Somalia.

For his part, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo expressed to the new ambassadors the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to strengthen its relations and cooperation with the international community.

President Farmajo congratulated the ambassadors on their appointment and wished them success in their diplomatic mission.
